I found my way to art as a kid. I was curious about things I didn’t know or understand, and art was a place to find comfort and calm. I am always interested in how and when people find their life’s work, as well as what they do with and for what they love. I am a huge fan of those who freely share what they know, and I often ask myself: What can I do to help? How can I be of service? These are grounding principles, foundational to building a life of purpose and lightness.
One of my favorite artists as a teenager was Auguste Rodin. When I needed a place to think, I would go to the Rodin sculpture garden at Stanford University Art Museum (now the Cantor Arts Center). I would sit among the sculptures and feel particularly grounded.
