I was first introduced to red light therapy during the pandemic. Like everyone, I was willing to try anything to holistically combat something invisible. I found a guy who was able to covertly offer access to Joovv Panels, both those you stand between and portable, at-home versions. I used both every day for months. It started super ritualistically, at a time when everything was completely locked down. It was peaceful and meditative to go somewhere, remove your clothes, put in your AirPods and listen to a meditation or an awesome novel on Audible, letting 22- minutes pass.
When I moved to California, I found Restore Hyperwellness and joined as a member. Five years later, it’s one of the few memberships I have retained. If I don’t have time to go, as obviously my schedule is completely different than when I started red light therapy during the pandemic, I use my at-home version. I sit on the warm floor in my bathroom first with my back to the device and then hold it up to my chest and face. I’m not a scientist, nor even a biohacker, but I know I feel better when I do red light therapy. I sleep better, my HRV is higher, and I think my skin looks better, too!
One of the things I’ve learned over time is that self-care is not selfish. It’s essential. For me, red light therapy is part of my regular routine!
